A Great Void

The Mishnah Berurah (סימן קנו) lists over 20 mitzvos de’oraysa  not found in the Shulchan Aruch. Nearly all these mitzvos are Mitzvos Bein Adam Lechaveiro, the mitzvos that govern our conduct toward each other. They include: halbanas panim, dan lekaf zechus, ahavas re'im, dvar sheker, chanufah and many more. Mitzvos Bein Adam Lechaveiro pervade almost every aspect of our daily lives on a continuous basis. Nevertheless, as a result of not being in the Shulchan Aruch, many Yidden remain unaware of the particulars of these halachos. Expertise in these mitzvos is a rarity even among accomplished Talmidei Chachomim. ​​This, of course leaves a great void that must be filled.

Our Responsibility

The Mishna Berurah (cited above) concludes by saying: “It is, very much so, the correct thing for every person to study [these mitzvos] and become proficient in them. Through [this study] one will gain the ability to perform [these mitzvos].” It is also incumbent upon us, collectively, to help bring the knowledge of these halachos to all of Klal Yisroel.

Linas Hatzedek Kollel Network

Founded in 2001 in Yerushalayim, with HaRav Yitzchak Berkovits Shlita as its Rosh Kollel, Kollel Linas Hatzedek began with a select group of outstanding avreichim. Its purpose was to study Mitzvos Bein Adam Lechaveiro, shma'atsa aliva dehilchesa. After completing its first two-year machzor on Mitzvos Bein Adam Lechaveiro, some alumni started Kollel Linas Hatzedek  branches in other neighborhoods and cities. Additionally, other established kollelim joined Linas Hatzedek kollelim by dedicating sedarim to the Linas Hatzedek limud. The original Kollel, then in its second machzor, began serving as the flagship kollel for the expanding kollel nework with HaRav Berkovits serving also as the network's Rosh Hakollelim. The network grew to span dozens of kollelim and yeshivos and has served thousands of avreichim who have learned through the network's programs.

Center for Jewish Values

The Center for Jewish Values emerged to oversee the operations of the growing Linas Hatzedek kollel network and to make Mitzvos Bein Adam Lechaveiro accessible to all of Klal Yisroel. Through the publication of sefarim, innovative study forums and an array of educational products, the Center for Jewish Values introduced tens of thousands of people to the kollel's teachings. The Center for Jewish Values serves individuals, yeshivos, kollelim, shuls, schools and kiruv organizations across the world seeking to learn Mitzvos Bein Adam Lechaveiro. The Center of Jewish Values also empowers independent learning programs and authors with materials and guidance.
